Behrooz Ghaffarian is a specialist in thermal control design for space applications who has delivered successful creative solutions for generations of both geostationary and low-Earth-orbiting satellites. The Indianapolis resident has more than four decades of experience with aerospace standard software tools, including Thermal Desktop, SINDA, TSS, and Ideas/TMG, and has designed and tested thermal control hardware.

 

Experience

 

  • End-to-end development of multiple weather satellites, with duties including proposal, requirement definition, design, analysis and ground testing.
  • IPT lead responsible for design, budgeting, and schedule of multiple projects.
  • Supervised group of seven thermal engineers
  • Lead senior thermal engineer.
  • Thermal control hardware experience includes constant conductance heat pipes, loop heat pipes, active and passive cryogenics coolers, multi-layer insulation, solid state and mechanical thermostats, heaters, and selection of appropriate surface optical properties.
